As the Head of Engineering, you are the visionary who leads the technical product teams. Your goal is to ensure that technical projects are completed accurately, within budget, and on time, to meet business objectives and support the roadmap of our AI-powered flagship product. This role will see you:|

• Managing Agile teams, developing and implementing product strategy.
• Providing technical leadership and ensuring products and services are delivered in line with architecture framework.
• Coaching Scrum Masters and team leaders, to empower them to drive team performance and overall quality. It would be ideal if you have previous experience as a Scrum Master to support this.
• Utilising your hands-on development experience, while embedding best practice into the teams.

You will:
• Be focused on delivering technical innovation and high-quality products. Previous experience of enterprise IT and CI/CD would be very beneficial in this role.
• Demonstrate the ability to drive the vision forward at a strategic leadership level.
• Have strong people/team management experience and be an articulate communicator and problem-solver.
• Use your passion to inspire and motivate teams to succeed in line with the company vision, values, and goals.
• Have excellent planning and organisational skills, enabling you to plan and coordinate a large number of activities, with effective time management and an ability to remain calm and objective under pressure.
• Be tenacious, highly energised, passionate, and committed. You’re determined to achieve amazing results and make an impact, delivering to high standards and delighting customers.

You will be responsible for the following main areas.

People Leadership & Management
• Providing technical leadership to ensure all aspects of software development meet the highest standards and exceed customer expectations in functionality, quality, technology, and overall customer experience
• Responsibility for the overall assessment, management, and development of product development teams, and for supporting the achievement of product, quality, and financial objectives
• Managing performance standards to ensure maximum profitability and growth in line with our vision
• Evaluating, coaching, and developing team members to build their confidence and abilities, so that they can operate at the highest standards
• Working with the CTO to ensure performance is managed, feedback is provided, and team members have the appropriate skills to achieve their objectives
• Responsibility for assessing training needs and ensuring the relevant level of training, coaching, and knowledge sharing is available to all team members
• Ensuring company processes, standards, and policies are implemented consistently and that fairness, reasonable standards in the treatment of people, equal opportunities, and work/life balance are maintained, to support a high-performing work environment and retain team members

Technical Innovation
• Ensuring your own personal development, knowledge, and skills are up to date and maintained, including emerging trends that may be relevant for solutions being developed
• Creating an environment of continuous learning and development for the team, ensuring their knowledge and skills are up to date and maintained
• Striving for innovative solutions and making suggestions for improvements that will benefit the business through improved efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity

Technical Delivery
• Managing product delivery and ensuring the development team builds products that meet requirements and are scalable, easily maintained, and supported
• Ensuring technical products are developed accurately, based on best practice standards, and delivered within budget and on time
• Building and managing highly successful teams, approving work estimates, establishing budgets, and communicating with Product Owners and Scrum Masters to evaluate requirements and track progress
• Carrying out research and cost/benefit analysis and providing advice to manage business needs
• Identifying and engaging with decision-makers at a senior level to understand new and emerging business opportunities and gather requirements
• Working with the security team to ensure data security standards are always met
• Monitoring and tracking progress, ensuring careful forward-planning, consistent implementation, and that high standards are met
• Ensuring rigorous project management is implemented so that scope, change, time, quality, cost, and risk are tightly controlled, with proactive progress updates made in Jira to give the business access to timely and accurate performance information
