Power BI Developer

Job Description

We are looking to add an experienced Power BI Developer to our growing consulting team. You will work on client-facing projects, so previous experience in consultancy is beneficial to this role.

The role offers a diverse opportunity with the need to wear multiple hats for different clients and projects. These hats range from technical development to deploying strategies, roadmaps and governance models as well as focusing on the user experience.

We have an exciting and varied client list, that are located throughout the UK. Due to this, all applicants must be willing and able to travel and work away from home as part of this role.

Requirements

As a Power BI Developer, you will be required to deploy production-ready solutions for our customers. The day to day varies greatly depending on the need of the customer. To give you a good understanding of the types of duties associated with this role, we have outlined the below:

Capturing data requirements at the client site using:

  • Persona building
  • Analysis Techniques
  • User Centric Design requirements

Developing data visualisation solutions using:

  • Power BI and similar toolsets
  • Semantic models (Power BI datasets, SSAS tabular models or similar)

Driving Self-service user adoption through

  • Mentoring and coaching others when it comes to business adoption of self-service BI
  • Demonstrating self-service tool capabilities through presentations and training

Essential Experience required

We would like to hear from people with the following experience:
• Building reporting solutions in Microsoft Power BI Stack
• Proficient in SQL, DAX, MDX and Power Query
• A good understanding of dimensional modeling
• Building semantic models in SSAS, Power BI datasets or similar
• Working knowledge of the Office 365 Suite and how it integrates with the Microsoft BI Stack
• Working knowledge of how to troubleshoot problems in the above technologies and languages

Experience in the following areas would be beneficial to the role:

• Exposure to handling unstructured data such as documents, videos, images, etc.
• Experience with using technologies such as Tableau, QlikView, D3, R and Python
• Exposure to Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Cosmos DB and Azure Data Factory

Head of Data and Analytics

Compensation

• Competitive starting salary
