Technical Author

Job Description

We’re looking to complement our ever-growing Aiimi Labs team with an experienced Technical Author.

Aiimi Labs is our internal software development team, focused on building our next-generation enterprise information management product, InsightMaker. As a Technical Author joining Aiimi Labs, you’ll be part of a fast-paced team working in an Agile development environment. You’ll take ownership of the content creation and authoring of InsightMaker technical guidance and supporting materials, with responsibility for driving these efforts forward.

This is an exciting and varied role for someone who has experience working in a software product environment. You’ll have a passion for technology and understand why product artefacts and technical content are so important to fast-moving, growing companies like Aiimi that are looking to mature their product offering.

You’ll be based out of our shiny new office in Milton Keynes. However, this role will have wide reach, so work from home, your garden, the park, anywhere. As long as you bring value to the business and get the job done to a high standard, we are flexible on this. We pride ourselves on our collaborative team culture and sense of humour. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but what we do makes a real difference – just ask our customers. We work with some of the largest and most respected brands in the utilities sector, national infrastructure providers, and government.

At Aiimi the pace is dialled up to maximum, but you will always find yourself surrounded by like-minded adventurers and the rewards are worth it.

This role will see you

• Lead the creation and authoring of InsightMaker technical guidance and supporting materials in the Aiimi Labs team, including documents such as implementation guides, installation processes, and overviews of software architecture
• Work with Aiimi Labs and the wider Aiimi business to gather subject matter expert input to support you in the content creation process
• Take ownership in defining the standards by which documentation is created, authored, reviewed, formatted, published, and maintained
• Be responsible for embedding documentation reviews into the team and creating an ownership process on a business-as-usual basis
• Be responsible for the ongoing review and validation of documentation to ensure a high standard is maintained, in line with major product releases
• Research, advise, and own the identification and implementation of a documentation hosting platform, to raise the standard of service experienced by customers and users in accessing and using technical guidance

Previous experience suited to this role

• Demonstrable recent experience working with leading software organisations, within a product development environment
• Previous experience leading the creation of product artefacts and technical guidance materials
• Ability to work autonomously while driving a collaborative relationship with members of the team
• As part of the interview process you will be asked to provide examples of work/projects that you have completed
