Technical Copywriter

Job Description

Have you got strong writing skills and a curiosity to learn about tech and how it can help organisations succeed? If so, the role of Technical Copywriter could be perfect for you. We're looking for someone who is excited to build this role from the ground up and really make it their own. We’re a fast-growing, straight-talking technology company with a passion for Data and AI, and one eye on making the business world a smarter, better place.

As a Technical Copywriter you will be documenting our innovative technology, collaborating with various teams and business areas, and bringing new and innovative ideas to the technical documentation. The successful applicant will take the lead in gathering the key information from the engineering and product management teams, to create simple and clear technical documentation that is easily understood by a broad audience, both technical and non-technical, and that helps guide end users and facilitates expert use of our product.

Requirements

  • Creation of documentation for a range of users, from non-technical end users to technically confident product administrators
  • Define and own Technical Copywriting roadmap of deliverables, mapping out how priorities fit together over the short, medium and long term
  • Taking the lead in gathering the information they need for the documentation and being proactive in their approach to problem solving
  • Ownership of Technical Authoring stories and activities, including management in Jira and coordinating with designers and developers during feature development to integrate Technical Authoring into our product development lifecycle (operating as part of an agile process and software development team)
  • Oversee the vision, creation and maintenance of all product documentation and the platform where they live, in terms of access and publication to both internal and external audiences
  • Become the subject matter expert of the Aiimi Insight Engine and the go-to guide for questions and curious stakeholders

Skills/Experience

Essential:

  • Experience working in the IT/Tech sector as a Technical Author/Copywriter embedded within the development process
  • Desire to go beyond writing and to help shape the direction of our product’s documentation ecosystem
  • Experience writing for an audience with varying technical experience, from copywriting for non-technical users to technical documents for admins
  • An approach to the work that is grounded in engaging with and embedding within the wider team
  • Willing to be innovative and lead the technical copywriting function of the product.

Desirable:

  • Previously working within an agile software development team/environment would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience working with analytics to measure success of work
  • Experience writing Software Product Help Page content
  • Interest in AI, machine learning, natural language processing, search, data privacy, and/or GDPR
  • Knowledge of technologies like Elastic, Cloud Computing platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS), Windows and Linux administration, and enterprise infrastructure
