Carbon Emissions Negative: Aiimi’s take on net zero.
At Aiimi, we believe in considering the full lifetime cost of our actions as individuals, knowing that together, we can make a meaningful difference.
Our sustainability focus is on making long-term, transparent commitments to address the climate challenge. This means we prioritise minimising our carbon emissions – and any we can’t avoid, we seek to offset, including through carbon removal schemes. Watch the video to discover Aiimi's take on Net Zero.
Our aim is to become Carbon Emissions Negative, meaning we lock away more carbon than we emit.
We've been Carbon Neutral since Aiimi was founded in 2013. But today we know more, so we’re empowered to do more. We’ve identified a set of goals that look to deliver a year-on-year per capita saving, making us a more carbon efficient business overall. We’re committed to:
Reducing our carbon footprint per head year-on-year, including assessing our choice of suppliers, products, and travel.
Challenging the design and delivery of our software to minimise resources and associated emissions.
Seeking practical, local carbon offsetting and removal strategies, including generating our own carbon credits.
Moving to a set of more comprehensive and rigorous standards and certifications (ISO 14064, ISO 14068, and IWA42) and engaging BSI as our external verifier.
Using a dynamic carbon emissions and reporting dashboard to pull operational data and deliver monthly reports on our emissions status.

Here are some of the everyday ways in which we're pursuing a more sustainable future.
Our partners on the journey to Carbon Emissions Negative.
We’ve engaged with the following projects, approved by Quality Assurance Standard for Carbon Offsetting.
This project delivers clean drinking water to communities in the Zoba Anseba region through sustainable water systems. By reducing reliance on carbon-intensive methods of water purification, it’s not only improving health but also contributing to a lower carbon footprint for the region. This offsetting was backdated from when Aiimi was founded in November 2013, through to December 2018.
This project focuses on restoring boreholes in rural Uganda, providing communities with access to clean, safe water. By repairing and maintaining these water sources, it helps reduce the need for firewood to boil and purify water, ultimately lowering carbon emissions and improving local health.
This initiative addresses the environmental impact of industrial wastewater. By implementing advanced wastewater treatment systems and utilising biogas as an energy source, the project reduces greenhouse gas emissions while promoting sustainable energy use in the region.
This reforestation project in Kenya is aimed at restoring degraded landscapes, increasing biodiversity, and capturing carbon from the atmosphere. By planting native trees, it's helping to reverse deforestation, protect ecosystems, and contribute to long-term carbon offsetting.
