Interviewing at Aiimi: the what, where, who, when, and how.

So, you’re interested in joining Team Aiimi?
You’ve probably already looked us up online. You’ve seen what it’s like to work at Aiimi on Glassdoor or on social. You’ve probably read some of our blogs. You decide – yes, you want to be an Aiimi person. So, what’s next?
First, you’ll be asked to submit an up-to-date CV and, for some roles, a portfolio of your work – maybe a website or your stuff on GitHub etc. Send us a cover letter too, please. A letter is a cool way for us to get an initial idea of how you tick. Having seen these, we may feel you’re a fit for various roles – some perhaps quite different to the role you’re applying for. We’ll discuss this with you in due course, so we can find the best opportunity for you within the team.
Now, we may request an interview with you.
Our recruitment process doesn’t just depend on CVs. We focus on a candidate’s character, too. So Aiimi interviews enable job applicants to shine because they’re relaxed, and they know they won’t be judged.
Here’s an overview of the process you can expect when interviewing with Aiimi:
- Initial appraisal phone call
- Technically focused interview and test / skills assessment
- Line Manager / Project Lead Interview
- For senior roles, a conversation with a Director or our CEO
At each stage of this process, we give feedback within a couple of days by email or phone. We’ll let you know what the next steps are, too, and who you will be speaking to next. We’ll arrange these calls at a time that suits you. You’ll receive an email with all the details. We will always be available for questions.
Aiimi interviews enable job applicants to shine because they’re relaxed, and they know they won’t be judged.
From the start, we want to know what you need to be at your best whilst interviewing. A large font copy of the job spec? More time for completing tests? Video call or phone call? Just let us know. We’ll do our best to help you feel prepared, comfortable, and relaxed, so you can deliver a kick-ass interview!
Aiimi interviews are two-way gigs. Interview us while we interview you. It’s like a marriage. Both parties need to know it’s going to be a fit. Only difference is this marriage won’t include in-laws. Result.

Preparation. Preparation. Preparation.
- Research Aiimi – but not just our website. Think creatively. What have we been blogging about? What events have we recently spoken at or attended? What are our products and services?
- Do our core values align with yours? What can you bring to Aiimi if you join the team?
- Be ready to talk about your CV and work samples. You’re an expert at you. We want to know you.
- Your CV is what you have done. We want to know what you can do. What are your professional aspirations? How do they integrate with, or manifest, your character, and why?
The Screening Call
The first stage of the interview process is a 15-20 minutes Zoom call with our Talent Manager, Charlotte Richmond. The purpose of this video call is to:
- Get to know you
- For you to get to know us. Ask us anything that you feel is relevant.
- Learn more about your experience
- Understand what you’re looking for in your next role
- Discuss your interest in joining Aiimi
- Find out how our company values and culture align with yours
If you’re applying for an entry level position, we will also ask you to complete an exercise that suits the role and your experience level – like completing a coding test, working through some scenario-based technical questions, or editing a piece of writing. If you’re applying for a graduate level role, we will also ask you to complete a numerical reasoning assessment at this stage. We want to see how you process the data we give you. The approach you take can be more important than the result!
We appreciate that you might, like us, have children at home and/or loved ones that you are supporting. You may even get a(nother) delivery that arrives during our Zoom powwow. Don’t worry. This is life. This is normal. Don’t let stuff like this phase you. We certainly won’t.
Oh – and we have a smart/causal dress code in the office and a more casual approach when working at home and on Zoom…so no need for formal interview attire. Just be comfortable. Just be yourself. 😊

Technical Interview and Skills Assessment
We will set up a call with the relevant team member(s) whose technical skills are aligned with yours. During this call, you will be asked about:
- Your technical skills and experience to date
- Areas / languages / tools that you have worked in or with recently
- What you want to achieve by joining the team at Aiimi
You may be invited to work through a technically focused scenario with the interviewer(s) via screenshare. If you have shared your portfolio as part of your application, you will be able to talk through your work with the interviewer(s). We want to see what you can do and know what skills you want to develop, and how we can support you in these areas. Be honest. Honesty is in our culture.
Line Manager / Project Lead Interview
Once you’ve completed the technical elements, we will have a better idea of where your skills will fit with us. We will then set up a call with the relevant Project Lead and / or Line Manager so they can go through project / team specifics with you in more detail. During this call, you will cover:
- Your overall experience to date
- What you are looking for in your next role
- Why Aiimi is of interest to you
There will be technical elements to this conversation; but this is also a chance for you to showcase your wider skill set. Please ask any questions you might have at this stage.
Be honest. Honesty is in our culture.

Director / CEO Call
For senior level roles, we will invite you to speak with a director of the relevant business area or Steve Salvin, our CEO. The purpose of this call is to finalise the interview process. We want to ensure you have and know everything you need, so that if we make you an offer, you feel confident about saying yes.
No matter what the role you may be interviewing for, we want to give you a broad overview of life at Aiimi. Why? So that if we ask you to join the team, you can do so in the knowledge that we have enough in common professionally and culturally that our joining forces will bear fruit for all parties.
We like parties – especially BBQs with our team. Did we say that?
