Top Trends in Data & AI for 2021: data storytelling.
Aiimi Data Visualisation Consultant Jessica Santos shares her prediction for 2021's top trend in data and AI. Data storytelling was key to the media coverage and government comms around Covid-19 in 2020, but what does data storytelling have to offer businesses in 2021?
What do you think will be the top trend in Data and AI for 2021?
The top trend of 2021 is going to be Data Storytelling, incorporating Data Visualisation.
What’s so great about it?
I think Data Visualisation is very important at the moment, due to the idea that we’re generating a lot of data every day, and we need to derive insights from that in a business setting. Throughout this year, although we've seen an increase during the global pandemic, we've also seen an increase in Data Visualisation used in journalism.
I feel like journalism is starting to understand how effective it is to use Data Visualisation and Data Storytelling to understand a whole story in a few seconds, and we can take a lot from that into our business settings.
Forgetting about data and AI, what’s the one thing you’re hoping for in 2021?
I can't wait to travel again. I think that's one thing that really helps me connect with the world and everyone in it – going out, seeing different cultures, meeting new people. I feel like the lack of that is felt. I just can't wait to get back to speaking to people and seeing different places.
